Shoot Secrets & Vintage Bridal Tips: The beautiful wedding dresses featured in this styled shoot are both very elegant, eye-catching styles. The ivory satin heavily beaded dress dates from the 1950s and is a rare and fabulous example of the glamorous wedding dress styles influenced by Hollywood superstars. It has a fitted silhouette which is finished off with a dramatic and unexpected train at the back adding some drama to the style. This dress has been bespoke made for some very lucky lady and the detail is amazing and couture like because of the quality of the beadwork on the body of the dress it’s quite heavy. Dresses from the 1950s era sadly do tend to fit on the petite side and are a lots smaller than modern dresses, both in terms of height and overall size. This is because of post war rationing and the differences in lifestyle women lived with then compared to now, so we can often only source these wedding dresses in sizes equivalent to modern sizes 2 to approximately size 10. Sometimes though, if we’re very lucky we can find a few size 12’s dating from the 1950s…..but they don’t tend to hang around for long!

The other wedding dress we chose for this shoot is a white 1990s dress which was designed with a nod to the wonderful bias cut styles of the 1930s, it’s extremely chic and slinkier than most vintage wedding dresses tend to be. .
