Photoshoot Secrets & Vintage Styling Tips: This shoot was our first ever creative collaboration with the wonderful @melodyjoy.co. Melody is an incredible destination & elopement wedding photographer from Chicago who is very much in demand both here in the UK and in the States. She’s super talented, super cool, super friendly and a very lovely person and has shot so many seriously cool weddings and styled shoots. We were beyond excited to get to work with her and have been lucky enough to form a fabulous friendship as well as a creative team who’ve been very busy collaborating on loads of styled bridal fashion shoots!
Melody’s concept was to shoot a cool 70s vintage style city elopement in Lambs Pavilion in Leith, Edinburgh and the wilds of Arthurs Seat. Her models were fellow photographer friends of hers, the flowers were designed by another local Edinburgh supplier, Narcissus Flowers, and she came to Those Were The Days to work with us on some creative styling!
Melody wanted a really relaxed feel for her eloping couple so we chose a beautiful ivory lace 1970s wedding dress with fabulous sleeve detail, which was paired with chunky brown ankle boots, and this being Scotland, we added a 1960s blonde faux fur coat from our sister store, ‘Those Were the Days Vintage’ to finish of our bride’s look. For our groom, we chose several menswear pieces from our vintage store, including a tweed jacket, a raincoat and dapper 1960s cravats and scarfs.
