Vintage Bridal Tips: Beautiful wedding dresses dating from early time periods such as the 1920s & 1930s are increasingly very rare and collectible finds.  They are classic and elegant in their design and can often be quite delicate due to their age.  They are made from fabrics such as silks, satins, lace and organza. Due to their age they usually fasten with buttons, or hook and eye fastenings because zips weren’t invented until the 1930s. So you must take care when putting them on. Dresses from these eras also sadly do tend to fit on the petite side and are a lot smaller than modern dresses, both in terms of height and overall size. This is because of post war rationing and the differences in lifestyle women lived with then compared to now, so we can only source these wedding dresses in sizes equivalent to modern sizes 2 to approximately size 8.

However, if you love the styles of this era, then wedding dresses from the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s were often influenced by the Art Deco period so they might also be eras you’d like to consider.
